AMS 488, iNTERNSHIP IN APPLIED MATHEMATICS AND STATISTICS
Catalog Description: Participation in local, state, national, or international private enterprise, public agencies, or nonprofit institutions. To obtain pernmission to register for the course, students are required to submit proof that the work is related to their studies. During the semester, the student will submit progress reports and a final report on their experience to the client and to the department. May be repeated up to a limit of six credits.

- Research an assigned topic in an area of applied mathematics or statistics, using textbooks and media sources to write a summary report of findings.
- Organize and develop writing skills through the writing and revision process while completing the research report.
- Develop time management skills through the process of research and writing, and through schedule meetings with the supervising faculty member.
