Alex (they/them) is a postdoctoral researcher in the mGAMUT lab with Jackie Weissman. Prior to their time at Stony Brook, they earned a PhD at the American Museum of Natural History in Comparative Biology. Alex's research uses computational tools to explore evolutionary, ecological, and genomic questions about anoxygenic photosynthesis in diverse bacteria.
Why I chose to join Stony Brook IRACDA :
I was excited to join IRACDA to deepen my pedagogical skills and expand my teaching practice in service of a long-standing goal to pursue an academic career at a primarily undergraduate-serving institution.
