SBU Postdoc Spotlight is a celebration of the research performed by Stony Brook's postdoctoral scholars. Modeled after the Three Minute Thesis format, Spotlight talks make complex research accessible to both specialists and non-specialists. The Postdoc Spotlight is a unique opportunity to learn about the latest discoveries and exciting projects happening at Stony Brook.
The goal is for postdoctoral scholars to use their full range of communication skills to present their research clearly and compellingly, highlighting its central message without jargon while gaining valuable professional development.
At Stony Brook, participants craft their talks as part of a cohort, undergoing coaching from research communication experts grounded in techniques from the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science.
Receive individualized coaching grounded in techniques from the Alda Center. Hone your skills in a supportive peer group.
Translate complex jargon into vivid, engaging stories. Share your dissertation findings with a general audience.
Compete for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place cash awards, plus a People's Choice award. Sponsored by the SBU Alumni Association.
