Required Qualifications
MD/DO with Board Eligibility or Board Certification in Adult Psychiatry. New York
State license eligible.
Preferred Qualifications
Clinical experience in Geriatric Psychiatry. Board Eligible in Geriatric Psychiatry.
Track record of research/teaching experience in Geriatric Psychiatry.
Responsibilities & Requirements
The Clinical Assistant Professor will serve as a Geriatric Psychiatrist attending
in our Adult Outpatient Department. Shifts totaling 40 hours per week with cross coverage for
a 28-bed Adult Psychiatry Inpatient Unit with call approximately one day every 7-8
weeks. Responsibilities involve direct patient care of geriatric patients in the Adult
Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic, including diagnostic evaluations, follow-up care, and
teaching and supervision of medical students, residents, and fellows, with an opportunity
to take a leadership role in the geriatric fellowship. The clinician will also provide
consultation at the Long Island Veterans Home with provision of care to patients and
education of patients, families and staff, and will collaborate with the School of
Dentistry to provide mentorship for the Community Dental residency track. There are
also opportunities for clinical research involving psychiatric inpatient and outpatient
treatment, as well as research in collaboration with other departments.
Special Notes
This is a non-tenure track position. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime
provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible.
