Campus Description Stony Brook Medicine is home to the Stony Brook Heart Institute, Stony Brook Cancer
Center, Stony Brook Neurosciences Institute, and Stony Brook Digestive Disorders Institute. The Department of Psychiatry includes robust clinical, education and research programs,
and includes Long Island’s only State Designated Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency
Program, the Center for Excellence in Alzheimer’s Disease, one of only two inpatient
child psychiatry units in Long Island, robust divisions in Consultation and Liaison
Psychiatry, Inpatient Psychiatry and Child/Adolescent Psychiatry, and rapidly growing
regional programs in Geriatric Psychiatry, and Substance Use Disorders. The Department
includes internationally renowned leadership in neuroimaging and in schizophrenia
research, a robust and rapidly expanding residency training program, and recognized
excellence in medical student education in psychiatry.
