Required Qualifications
MD or equivalent. Board Certified in Internal Medicine. Board Certified in Rheumatology. Must
have 5 years of clinical care experience in an academic setting with leadership experience
managing a Rheumatology fellowship program or residency training program.
Preferred Qualifications
Interested in clinical research.
Responsibilities & Requirements
Seeking a full-time Rheumatologist (Associate Professor/Professor) who will be responsible
for patient care (inpatient and outpatient), as well as teaching medical students,
residents and fellows. The incumbent will also serve as the Fellowship Program Director,
for our two-year accredited clinical program that has existed since the 1980s. Two
fellows are recruited each year from a national pool of applicants and they provide
both inpatient and outpatient clinical services at Stony Brook University Medical
Center and the VA medical center in Northport. The Program Director will oversee the
Rheumatology fellowship training program by implementing ACGME and institutional policies
and directing educational training programs including lecture series, didactic teaching
for ambulatory care and consultative service and rotations to other departments within
SBUH. The director will also foster clinical, translational and basic research projects
and independent studies for the trainees. To qualify for an appointment as an Associate

Special Notes
This is a non-tenure track position. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime
provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible.
