Reflecting on a Strong, Impactful Academic Year
May 16, 2025
Dear Stony Brook Campus Community,
As the spring semester comes to a close, I want to offer all students my very best wishes as you finish your final exams, projects and papers. To our students who are completing their academic degrees, on behalf of our entire campus community, we congratulate you and we are certain your futures are bright. Please continue to bring the values and passion you have exemplified at Stony Brook to the places where you will live and work. As you have done here as Seawolves, carry on that same commitment to making the world a better place for those around you.
Soon the summer break will be here. While a university campus with an academic health center is a year-round operation, I do hope the coming months allow for some time off that is both enjoyable and restful for you and your families. To the entire campus community, thank you all for the dedication and resilience that you have demonstrated this year. I have said before, and it is worth repeating, that the way this campus works as a team whose members support each other reflects a campus environment I admire and am so proud to be a part of. I’ve had the privilege of witnessing our community make remarkable strides in diverse academic and healthcare disciplines, all the while fostering a culture of both caring and excellence. Each member of our community contributed to making this possible.
This time of year is exceptionally busy on a university campus. Let’s make time to support and celebrate one another, and especially our graduates. I look forward to seeing you at Commencement on May 23.
Thank you for all you do for Stony Brook.
Sincerely,
Richard L. McCormick
Interim President
