Inductee Profile

Adrienne Giannone, Founder, Edge Electronics, Inc.

When Adrienne Giannone founded Edge Electronics in Bohemia 20 years ago, friends and business associates greeted the move with little enthusiasm. With the economy in a slump, her timing was off, they warned. But the 20-year veteran of the electronics industry proved the naysayers wrong. Giannone’s vision of unparalleled customer service has translated into great success with everything from carrying a broad product line, to world-class quality control standards, customized warehousing and distribution, and a network of offices in seven states across the US.

Giannone has led Edge Electronics from the early days of representing a few specialized component manufacturers to now being an authorized distributor of world class lines such as Micron Technology, Samsung Semiconductor, and JAE Electronics. Giannone continued to evolve the business in 2002, when she decided to focus a large part of the company on the ever evolving market of custom display solutions, and now represents well known brands such as NEC LCD Technologies, Optrex, and Digital View. As recently as the fall of 2009, their growth has led them to move to new, larger headquarters on Long Island.

Certified by the President’s Educational Organization’s Women’s Business National Council and the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), Giannone has garnered numerous awards and distinctions including the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Administrator’s Award for Excellence, the Diamond Award for Women in Technology, LISTnet’s Techonomic Award and has a spot in Long Island Business News’ Hall of Fame for the Top 50 Influential Women in Business.

Despite a busy schedule, Giannone finds time to share some of her business and fiscal acumen with the region’s charitable organizations. In the wake of the September 11th disaster, she halted her company’s plans for a grand opening celebration of their then new location, donating all costs for the celebration to the United Way September 11 Fund. She supports the programs of the Make-A-Wish Foundation as well as efforts in cancer research. An avid golfer, Giannone hosts an annual golf outing that has raised in excess of $125,000 to support local organizations in the fight against breast cancer.
