Our undergraduate coordinators support the overall operations of the pantry while also assisting with programming and initiatives to promote the resources we offer.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Conducting an independent research project throughout the academic year, with the goal to identify and analyze a specific problem related to food or basic needs insecurity affecting Stony Brook University or its surrounding community, and propose feasible, evidence-based solutions through original research and presentation.
  • Supporting and supervising volunteers during the Pantry’s regular business hours, including occasionally helping to fulfill visitors’ orders and enforce Pantry regulations.
  • Greeting visitors, guests, and stakeholders of the Pantry upon their arrival and departure.
  • Maintaining up-to-date inventory of the Pantry and its satellite locations, including recounting assigned zones and occasionally restocking satellite locations in the Student Activities Center and LGBTQ* Center.
  • Coordinating weekly restock purchase orders with the Graduate Coordinator.
  • Overseeing and assisting with the logging of donations into our PantrySoft (PS) system.
  • Proposing and supporting new programs and initiatives hosted by the Pantry.
  • Proudly and appropriately representing the Seawolves Pantry when required.
  • Attending biweekly 1:1 meetings with a supervisor.
  • Completing 10 in-person office hours per week during regular business hours, and occasionally, outside regular business hours for special events.
  • Logging weekly hours in SOLAR and America Learns.

Additional responsibilities will be detailed as necessary and appropriate within the scope of the position.
