Tutoring Services
The International Student Center offers both writing tutors for graduate and undergraduate international students and skill-based tutoring for undergraduate international students.
Writing Tutors
All writing tutors are trained by the Stony Brook Writing Center and can support both undergraduate and graduate writers. Writing tutors can help with:
- Writing clarity
- Essay structure
- Content problems
Priority is given to scheduled appointments. Walk-ins are welcome if appointments are not booked for the day. All appointments are 45 minutes long and will be held in the International Student Center. Please bring your laptop and relevant course materials with you.
Appointments will begin the week of February 9 - select International Student (MELVILLE LIB) to reserve your time.

Skill-based Tutors AT isc
Skill-based tutors at ISC can help you navigate academic challenges in the new educational environment. The tutors are trained by ASTC and ISC to guide and support you with:
- Academic support: time management, study skills, evidence-based learning strategies, and goal-setting.
- Finding and using campus resources
- Understanding your syllabus and the US education system
Skill-based Tutors are not able to help with writing and course assignments. For writing help, please make an appointment with a writing tutor.
Skills-Based Tutoring at ISC is appointment-only. Walk-ins are not accepted. All appointments will be held in the International Student Center.
