Program Costs & Financial Information
Pre-College Summer offers exceptional value with comprehensive programming designed to prepare you for college success. Your program fee covers expert instruction, all course materials, meals, housing (for residential participants), and access to campus facilities.
We believe cost should never be a barrier. Residential participants taking multiple weeks receive automatic discounts — up to $1,500 off for four weeks.
Additional discounts and financial assistance are available for qualifying participants.
Residential Program
Weekend Accomodations: $300 per Weekend (Additional Fee)
If you're enrolled in multiple weeks and want to stay on campus between sessions, weekend accommodations cost an additional $300 per weekend. This fee includes housing, meals, and supervised programming during the weekend.
Example: 2 weeks ($4,250) + weekend accommodations ($300) = $4,550 total
Commuter Program
Experience the best of Pre-College Summer while enjoying the flexibility of heading home each day. Choose the option that works best for your schedule.
Multi-week discounts do not apply to commuter participants. Commuter participants cannot stay over weekends between sessions.
Discounts & Financial Assistance
We believe financial circumstances should never prevent a motivated participant from experiencing Pre-College Summer. Discount programs and financial assistance options are available to help make this program accessible.
Discount eligibility and financial assistance are reviewed as part of the admission process, and applicants will be notified of any awarded assistance at the time of their program admission decision.
Available Discount Programs
Free & Reduced Lunch Program
If you qualify for free or reduced lunch through your school, you're eligible for a $250 discount toward your program fee.
SBU Pre-College Program DISCOUNTS
Previous participants in these Stony Brook pre-college programs receive a $100 discount:
- Accelerated College Education (ACE)
- Institute for Creative Problem Solving (ICPS)
- Pre-College STEM (formerly WISE)
Note: You can only use ONE of these $100 pre-college program discounts, even if you participated in multiple programs.
Financial Assistance
Need-Based Assistance
Need-based financial assistance may be available for Pre-College Summer Program applicants. To be considered, applicants must submit a complete application.
✓ Discounts Are Stackable
If you qualify for multiple discount programs, you can combine them! For example, if you're eligible for both the Free & Reduced Lunch discount ($250) and the ACE participant discount ($100), you'll receive a total of $350 off your program fee.

Payment Schedule
Submit Your Application
No application fee required. Complete your application by the deadline: May 15, 2026
Submit Your Deposit
$500 nonrefundable deposit due within two weeks of acceptance to secure your spot.
Note: This deposit is applied toward your total program fee and is nonrefundable.
Pay Remaining Balance
Final payment due by May 30, 2026. This includes your program fee minus the $500 deposit and any applicable discounts.
Payment Methods
We accept credit cards, debit cards, and electronic checks. Payment information will be provided in your acceptance notification.
Cancellation Policy
We understand that circumstances can change. If you're no longer able to attend, you may be eligible for a full or partial refund based on when you notify us.
*Important: All refunds exclude the nonrefundable $500 deposit and reflect any discounts received (Free & Reduced Lunch, alumni discounts, etc.).

Scholarship Opportunity for Future Seawolves!
If you attend the SBU Pre-College Summer Program and subsequently apply, get accepted, and enroll at Stony Brook University, you will be eligible for one of two scholarships:
- New York State residents will receive a $1,000 scholarship over 4 years ($250 per year)
- Out-of-state residents will receive a $2,000 scholarship over 4 years ($500 per year)
