Start a financial journey with Business School faculty.

The Money Manager Academy is designed to prepare and inspire ambitious and achieving high-school students to be a successful manager of their finances.

The program equips participants with basic financial literacy and financial toolsets to manage various aspects of personal and business finances, including but not limited to budgeting, spending and savings, credit and debt, time value of money, investing and planning, insurance, business finance, entrepreneurial finance, etc. 

Pre-College Summer

The  academy is not available for Summer 2024 registration.

 


About The Center

Stony Brook's  Center of Entrepreneurial Finance strives to advance and disseminate research and practice on how entrepreneurial entities acquire, manage and transfer financial resources. Our three missions are to promote and facilitate research activities in entrepreneurial finance, create opportunities for students to participate in entrepreneurial finance research and start-up activities, and provide a platform connecting relevant stakeholders to support the building of the entrepreneurial ecosystem on Long Island, New York State, and beyond.

About The Trading and Investing Lab

The Trading and Investing Lab aims to promote financial literacy and enhance financial intelligence in trading and investing through research, education, and engagement activities in the Stony Brook community and beyond. 

Course Instructors

Danling Jiang

Danling Jiang, PhD

 Dr. Jiang is a Professor of Finance and Associate Dean for Programs at College of Business, Stony Brook University. She is also the Co-Director of the Center of Entrepreneurial Finance, the Trading and Investing Lab, and the Blockchain Business Lab. Her research involves studying stock and digital asset investments, corporate finance, and financial decision-making based on the psychology and behaviors of market participants.

RIchard Chan

Richard Chan, PhD

Dr. Chan is an Associate Professor of Management at College of Business, Stony Brook University. He is also the Director of Center of Entrepreneurial Finance. His research domain is broadly situated at the intersection of psychology, technology, and entrepreneurial finance.

Thomas Tallerico

Thomas Tallerico, MBA, MS

Mr. Tallerico is an Adjunct Professor of Finance at College of Business, Stony Brook University. He is a Senior Project Manager at Brookhaven National Labs for 37 years. He has taught undergraduate and graduate courses at Stony Brook University since 2004, covering topics related to principles of finance, investment, risk management, and entrepreneurial finance.

Boyan Dotchinov

Boyan Doytchinov, MBA, CFA, and CFP

Mr. Doytchinov is the Director of Financial Planning at Snyder Wealth Group, a financial service firm in Long Island. He specializes in financial planning including retirement, portfolio management, tax planning, insurance, estate planning, and cash flow management.
