The Student Advisory Board consists of a select group of Honors College students that play an integral role in working with Honors College staff to plan activities and events.These student leaders also serve as key points of representation for the student body.
Student Advisory Board members are selected annually via an application process. Positions currently include: Co-presidents, Head Community Events Coordinator, and Head Social Media and Graphics Coordinator.
Honors College Annual Events
Each year the Student Advisory Board in conjuction with the Honors College Staff puts on a wide variety of events for Honors College students. These events help to foster a close knit Honors College community and lifelong friendships!

members outside their major. About four faculty roundtables are held every semester.
Kicking off every Homecoming Weekend in the Fall, Honors College students are invited
to a special BBQ. They get to show off their Stony Brook Seawolves pride while enjoying
delicious pulled pork, chicken, macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, baked beans, corn bread,
warm apple crisp...YUM!
Pizza and game nights are held every semester in the Honors College Lounge, hosted
by our Student Advisory Board. Pizza, snacks, and board games offer a nice break from
busy coursework.

To celebrate the graduating Honors College seniors, each spring a semi-formal, Senior
Banquet is held at a local catering hall. This is a very special evening where Honors
College students get to celebrate their hard work and accomplishments and enjoy dinner
and dancing with their fellow classmates as they also look toward the future.Yang Hall
Yang Hall is the new residential home of the Honors College, housing all of our program's
first-year students living on campus as well as a number of upperclassmen.
Located in the Nobel Hall community, Yang Hall is located right next door to the Center for Global Studies and Human Development, where students can grab a coffee, bagel, even a milkshake, utilize the computer labs and multipurpose rooms, or just relax. Additionally Yang Hall is just a few steps away from West Side Dining, home to all-you-care-to-eat meals, the student radio station - WUSB, and the LGBTQ+ Center.
Yang Hall is unique among the buildings available to first-year students in that it is suite-style living rather than corridor-style. This means students in groups of six across three bedrooms are able to share private living room and bathroom areas with each other, rather than with a whole floor. Many students in this setting forge deep bonds with their suitemates, and even choose to live together beyond their first year!
Yang Hall is also known for its strong community feeling. Residents throughout the building can be found participating in programs and events with the Resident Assistants (RAs) and Hall Council, working in the Quiet Study space, cooking up something delicious in the community kitchen, or relaxing in the Recreation Room. Yang residents are also engaged all across campus as many hold leadership positions in student organizations.
Our residential students hold many points of pride, from their robust Hall Council, to several campus awards for their wonderfully creative boats at the annual Roth Regatta, but the best part of Yang Hall is all the students that make it their home!
