The College of Engineering & Applied Sciences (CEAS) Undergraduate Student Office
assists students majoring in, and those interested in pursuing CEAS programs. The
Undergraduate Student Office staff are actively involved in the recruitment of prospective
freshman and transfer students, oversee numerous College-wide events, advise CEAS-related
student organizations, administer the unique CEAS-specific scholarship and tutoring
programs, and work closely with the Career Center and industry to assist students
with finding internship and job opportunities.

The Office of Commuter Student Services and Off-Campus Living is committed to offering
support, programming, resources and outreach targeted towards students who do not
reside on-campus. We orient commuter students to Stony Brook University and the local
community, and provide them with the tools they need to be successful both on and
off campus.

EOP/AIM offers many support services to students in the program. Tutoring is available
for many of the courses that EOP/AIM students take regularly. Students may request
tutoring in any subject and tutoring groups are formed based on the needs expressed

This office aims to provide excellent support to active duty service members, veterans,
and their families in the Stony Brook community; enhance the registration and processing
of veteran students educational benefits; augment the exposure of military service
members on campus; provide work-study opportunities to our veteran students; and transition
students from military life to student life.
This office provides assistance to international students, including providing important
information regarding immigration, taxes, employment, insurance, and arrival notices.

What is it? Provides support to students in AMS courses through T.A. office hours

What is it? Provides an opportunity for support and critical thinking for students in BIO 204
How can I access services? Hours of operation are posted outside of the door. Please refer to your syllabus or

What is it? T.A.s are available to challenge and ask direct questions to encourage critical thinking
for students in chemistry courses.
How can I access services? Check with the chemistry department for the Learning Center hours of operation.
Where is it located? 215 Chemistry Building
What is it? TAs hold help sessions for CHE 133. During the scheduled hours, students can receive
individualized assistance with issues dealing with the labs, including pre-lab assignments.

Where is it located? The library reference desk is located behind the front desk of the North Reading Room, but librarians also meet
with students within their offices throughout the Melville Library building, and also
on East Campus in the Health Sciences Library.
What is it? Librarians are available for one-on-one consultations with students to help them get
started on research papers or assignments, develop information search strategies,
evaluate source credibility, understand academic sources, avoid plagiarism, manage
citation, and much more. They also offer workshops on research help topics throughout
the semester.

What is it? Intended for students in MAP 103, MAT 123, 125, 126, 127, 131, 132. Provides support
for undergraduate students in MAT courses.

What is it? Provides support to students in PHY courses through T.A. office hours

Where is it located? Various residential spaces. Please check their website for details.
What is it? The Residential Tutoring Centers (RTCs)are an initiative in which tutoring and academic
help centers are coordinated and operated on site within residence halls where students
live. This year, the RTCs have started a collaboration with the Academic Success and
Tutoring Center to provide a more seamless tutoring experience for students.

Where is it located? Humanities 1082
What is it? "En Español" is the Spanish Tutorial and Writing Center which provides free, individual
help to students who are enrolled in Spanish language and literature courses. All
students are encouraged to visit the center for help with homework, compositions and
any other doubts related to their Spanish courses.
How can I access services? The Spanish Writing Center opens during the second week of classes and closes the
last day of classes.
What is it? Trained undergraduate and graduate students who help Stony Brook students through
one-on-one tutoring sessions that focus on each individual writer's needs. Tutors
will help writers brainstorm, organize, focus, and develop their written works
