The value of the Real Estate and INsurance Minor
Located in Harriman Hall, Room 109, our dedicated Office of Student Services team is here to assist undergraduate students with all of their academic advisement needs. We provide comprehensive support to approximately 1,500 undergraduate students in the College of Business.
How we can help you
Our office provides comprehensive academic advising to support your success in the College of Business. We are here to guide you through understanding the specific major and minor degree requirements for your chosen field of study. We also offer assistance with semester scheduling, helping you plan your course load effectively to ensure you stay on track for graduation. If you have transferred from another institution, we can help with transfer evaluations, assessing how your previously earned college credits apply to your Stony Brook degree. Finally, as you approach graduation, we provide guidance on degree clearances, ensuring that you have successfully met all the necessary requirements to receive your diploma.
Guidance for Semester Scheduling
To make the most of your advising sessions for semester scheduling, we recommend the following approach for the accounting major, business management major, and real estate & insurance minor:
- Step 1: Meet with a CoB Advisor: Discuss your core College of Business course requirements and ensure you are selecting the appropriate business courses for your degree path.
- Step 2: Meet with Academic and Transfer Advising Services: Following your meeting with a CoB advisor, connect with the Academic and Transfer Advising Services to address any questions regarding general Stony Brook Curriculum (SBC) requirements.
