Steven Glynn is an associate professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Cell Biology and director of the Center for Structural Biology. He earned his undergraduate and doctoral degrees in Biochemistry and Structural Biology from the University of Sheffield, followed by postdoctoral training at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His research focuses on uncovering the molecular mechanisms that identify and remove unwanted proteins from mitochondria, preventing their contribution to human disease. This work has been extensively supported by the NIH and the Barth Syndrome Foundation. Steve has served as director of the Biochemistry and Structural Biology graduate program and received the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2020.
