Sophie Zarate is a senior majoring in Psychology BS with a minor in Biology and enrolled in the MBA Fast Track Program. After moving from Paris, France to the U.S. at the age of 15, she was able to successfully immerse herself in the American culture and try to better her community everyday. She currently serves as the Vice President for both the Skincare & Wellness Club and the Golf Club, Treasurer of the Pipettes (Stony Brook’s all-female a cappella group), and their team captain for WolfieThon. Sophie is also a member of the International Honor Society in Psychology (PSI CHI) and a dedicated member of the SBU Ice Crew, a subdivision of the SBU D1 Hockey Team. Additionally, she is also involved in many other clubs such as Women in Business and Watsi. Sophie speaks four languages which led her to be a TA for French classes during two semesters.
Beyond SBU, Sophie is a passionate health advocate, raising awareness about Topical
Steroid Withdrawal (TSW), a rare condition she has personally experienced. She serves
as an ambassador for several nonprofit organizations and has spoken at online Congressional
meetings with New York State Senator representatives to promote legislative action
and education on TSW.
Sophie is honored to be part of the Stony Brook community and is committed to making
a lasting, positive impact through leadership, advocacy, and service.
