American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Competes in Met Section Concrete Canoe Competition
On April 30, 2017, the Stony Brook Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers competed in the Metropolitan Concrete Canoe Competition hosted by Rutgers University. The concrete canoe competition challenges various ASCE student sections to apply their engineering knowledge to create a canoe made of concrete and compete in a number of events. In their third time competing, the Stony Brook ASCE Chapter had their best year yet! Highlights of the day include:
- Passing the swamp test where the canoe is completely submerged in water & must float back to the top
- Placing 4th in both the men's and women's sprints
- Completing the day without any structural failures!
