Takeuchi Discusses History, Energy, AI and Research with TBR News Media
Esther Takeuchi, Distinguished Professor in Materials Science and Chemical Engineering at Stony Brook University and Chair of the Interdisciplinary Science Department at Brookhaven National Laboratory, has won numerous awards and received plenty of honors for her work. She has over 150 patents to her name.
“Science is critical to lead us to the future we all want to live in,” she added.

Tonjes quoted in Newsday about study linking plastics to cardiovascular disease
David Tonjes, a research associate professor with the Department of Technology and Society at Stony Brook University, said it's important to be aware that using plastic comes with a health cost but because plastic is so pervasive "figuring out how to tread lighter is really difficult."
Answering the Call - Research for Governors Island
Dilip Gersappe, a professor and chair of materials science and chemical engineering is among SBU faculty who intend for their current research to be applied to Governors Island when the construction is completed. Gersappe said he has two projects that could eventually be tested through The Exchange. The first involves research that uses natural processes to enhance barriers, specifically biopolymer-stabilized earth materials for resilient and adaptable infrastructures with the goal of stabilizing soil to provide natural barriers to erosion.

The Stony Brook Power Packaging Team was selected to be a winner of the Phase 1 DOE SiC Packaging Prize, and is now advancing into Phase 2.
Professor Fang Luo who is Director of the Spellman High Voltage Power Electronics Laboratory, and Professor Shikui Chen are faculty mentors, and the team consists of their students from the Spellman Lab.
ISO New England Sponsors Zang and Zhou
ISO New England, a non-profit corporation responsible for keeping electricity flowing across six New England states, recently sponsored Peng Zang and Yifan Zhou of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Stony Brook University, to develop and implement a quantum computing tool for electromagnetic transient (QEMT) analysis in their company.
Electromagnetic Transient (EMT) simulation tools can closely capture the system dynamics by continuously tracing the evolution of the system in multi-phase networks dominated with renewable energy resources.
This is the first time that a quantum EMT tool has been adopted by the power industry.
