Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Intercultural Initiatives (DI3) Programs

In addition to the Center for Inclusive Education, Stony Brook University has launched several diversity programs and initiatives to: broaden participation in undergraduate and graduate education, grow the participation of underrepresented groups among the faculty and professional staff, and enhance the campus climate to ensure that all members of the university feel welcome and included.

Institute for Advanced Computational Sciences (IACS) New Recruit Award

Institute for Advanced Computational Sciences (IACS) New Recruit award is given to new, incoming, full-time, fully-supported PhD graduate students that join IACS research groups  who are recognized as stellar students because of their outstanding potential indicated, for instance, by high undergraduate GPA, strong letters of recommendation, as well as their active research record. This award provides lump-sum payments each semester to ensure that your total combined (Department TA/GA/RA, summer funding, and other awards) annual stipend support reaches $37,000 for one calendar year.

Fellowship to Promote Diversity in Economics

Thanks to the generosity of one of our economics Ph.D. alumnae, this Graduate Fellowship is available to qualified historically underrepresented students pursuing a doctoral degree in our economics program. Our mission is to empower Fellows to assume their roles and responsibilities as future leaders, educators, and researchers. This Fellowship offers $75,000 over 5 years in addition to regular funding in the economics program.
