Ticketed Ceremonies
Main Commencement
Guest tickets will be required to gain entry to Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium for the University’s 66th Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 22, 2026. All guests need a valid ticket to enter LaValle Stadium — no exceptions. All registered candidates will receive two (2) guest tickets and may request one (1) additional ticket by joining the waitlist through the ticket portal.
Families are invited to celebrate at home by watching the livestream at www.stonybrook.edu/live.
Department Convocations
While not all department convocations require guest tickets, see the complete list of ticketed ceremonies.
Access Guest Tickets: Tuesday, April 28th - Tuesday, May 12
Eligible candidates who complete the Apply to Graduate form and indicate participation in the Main Commencement Ceremony and/or Department Convocations in SOLAR by April 15th will be eligible to claim guest tickets on our website. Unclaimed tickets are not guaranteed after the portal closes on May 12th.
All tickets are free of charge - you will not be billed. Children aged 1 and older require a ticket. Candidates participating in the ceremony do not require a ticket to participate.
Waitlist Information
Waitlist ticket notifications will be sent to candidates' Stony Brook email addresses on May 13. Candidates will have 72 hours to claim their ticket before it is released back into the ticket pool. Please note: Waitlist tickets are limited, not guaranteed, and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

DEPARTMENT CONVOCATIONS
Ticket allocations vary by ceremony based on class size and venue capacity. Due to strict fire code regulations, guests without valid tickets will not be admitted — no exceptions. Please ensure all your guests have tickets before arriving on campus.
Candidates participating in the ceremony do not require a ticket.
While not all ceremonies require guest tickets, the following departmental convocations do. Graduates attending these ceremonies may claim the number of guest tickets allotted for their specific ceremony, as listed below.

- Biomedical Engineering - 3 guest tickets; waitlist available for 1 additional

- Doctoral Hooding & Graduation - 6 guest tickets
- Electrical & Computer Engineering - 3 guest tickets; waitlist available for 1 additional
- Health Sciences - 3 guest tickets; waitlist available for 1 additional
- Main Commencement Ceremony - 2 guest tickets; waitlist available for 1 additional
- Materials Science & Chemical Engineering -3 guest tickets; waitlist available for 1 additional
- Mechanical Engineering - 3 guest tickets; waitlist available for 1 additional
- Psychology - 4 guest tickets
