Academic Courses + EAS is 6 week program( July 10 - August 17, 2017 )
About the Program (Scholarship Available)
Enroll for 3 credits from a selected list of academic courses. The complete list of summer courses can be found here. The EAS course will assist students in successfully completing the academic course and will enhance their overall English skills.

Eligibility
You must be a current college student or recent high school graduate with minimum age of 17 (born before 7/10/2000). *Degree-seeking students currently attending Stony Brook University are not eligible.
What is EAS?
English for Academic Success (EAS) The Intensive English Center offers a special program in which students will learn how to effectively communicate in English in an academic environment by enhancing their overall language skills. The overall goal of this course will be to assist students in successfully completing the academic course they will be taking concurrently with IEC’s EAS course. Instructors will provide guided support to help students with the material included in the academic course, covering a variety of disciplines in the College of Arts and Science, School of Business, and the College of Engineering. Participants in the program will enhance presentation skills, pronunciation, intonation, word stress, and fluency. In addition, this course will focus on listening to academic lectures and learning effective note-taking skills. Students will acquire strategies to enhance summarizing, analyzing, paraphrasing skills, and learn effective ways to present their work in writing with more confidence.

- If you have a score of IELTS 6.5 or, TOEFL iBT80 (CET-6 for Chinese students) You can enroll in two 3-credit courses (6 credits total). Please see list of courses on the website.
- If you have a score of IELTS 5.5 – 6.0 or TOEFL iBT 70-79 (CET 4 for Chinese students): You can enroll in one 3-credit course + English for Academic Success (EAS). A selection of course is listed on the website.
- If you want to register for a second 3-credit course, you will have to take an oral interview. Please email us at GSI@stonybrook.edu for details.
- If you do not have score for IELTS, TOEFL, (or Chinese CET): You will take an English proficiency placement test via Skype. Please email us at GSI@stonybrook.edu for details.
