Undergraduate Minors

The minor in Communication is designed to give students a foundation in the skill most valued by employers. Students will study and learn about interpersonal and intercultural communication, collaboration and teamwork.

Program Requirements

To complete the communication and innovation minor, you are required to take:

• COM 100: Introduction to Communication
• COM 120: Fundamentals of Public Speaking

You will choose one of the following courses:

• COM 202: Intercultural Communication
• COM 206: Interpersonal Communication

You will also choose three electives, at or above the 300-level.

The minor in Communication and Innovation is designed to give students majoring in science, engineering and related fields necessary workforce skills, including in teamwork and collaboration, interpersonal communication, and creativity, entrepreneurship and leadership.

• Business Communication
• Talking Science
• Team Collaboration

With a minor in journalism, you will gain a basic understanding of journalistic principles and the role journalism plays in society. Whatever your major and career goals, a minor in journalism will make you a better-informed consumer of news, improve your analytical skills, and enhance your communication and writing abilities.

To complete the journalism minor, you are required to take:

• News Literacy
• Introduction to Mass Media
• Introduction to Digital Journalism
• History of Mass Media

 You will also choose three electives, at or above the 300-level.
