Reporting Discrimination: Information for Employees of Affiliated Organizations

Employees of organizations affiliated with Stony Brook University or Stony Brook Medicine may report Incidents of discrimination directly to their employer - the affiliated organization.   

If an employee of any affiliated organization has a concern about an incident of discrimination/discriminatory harassment involving a Stony Brook University student, or an employee of Stony Brook University, Stony Brook University Hospital or Long Island State Veterans Home, either as a respondent or target of discriminatory behavior, including sexual misconduct, that conduct should be reported direclty to the Office of Equity and Access, Stony Brook University.

StaffCo Employees (PEO/Professional Employment Organization)

Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, Eastern Long Island Hospital, and other Stony Brook CPMP (Clinical Practice Management Plan) Employees

StaffCo and SUNY have entered into a PEO (Professional Employer Organization) agreement under which StaffCo is the employer for employees at Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital,  Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, and Stony Brook CPMP Employees at other facilities.  StaffCo is responsible for all aspects of employment, including human resource services, hiring, promotions, discipline, termination, the day-to-day direction and supervision of work, as well as labor relations and collective bargaining. Therefore Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, Eastern Long Island Hospital, and other Stony Brook CPMP employees should report issues of employment related discrimination, including sexual misconduct to StaffCo.

Employees of StaffCo are not State employees and therefore should report and pursue complaints related to their employment, including discrimination, under StaffCo's policies and procedures. 

Employees of StaffCo are StaffCo employees and therefore should report and pursue complaints related to their employment, including discrimination under StaffCo's policies and procedures. 

StaffCo employees at Southampton Hospital, Eastern Long Island Hospital and StaffCO CPMP employees should contact Maureen Roarty, Human Resources for more information or to file a complaint.

StaffCo employees at Stony Brook University-affiliated sites who do not feel comfortable reporting an incident to StaffCo, or who feel that StaffCo’s response to any complaint did not comply with StaffCo’s policies and procedures or state or federal law, may also report discrimination, including sexual misconduct, to Stony Brook University as an external reporting resource.

Stony Brook Administrative Services (SBAS) & Stony Brook Medicine Community Medical Group (SBMCMG)

SB Administrative Services, LLC and Stony Brook Community Medical, PC (SBMCMG) represent a rapidly growing network of community-based physicians that work with Stony Brook Medicine and smaller local hospitals in Suffolk County and beyond.  

SBAS and SBMCMG are the employers for employees at  SBMCMG locations.  SBAS and SBMCMG are responsible for all aspects of employment, including human resource services, hiring, promotions, discipline, termination, the day-to-day direction and supervision of work.  Therefore, the employees at SBMCMG locations should report issues of employment-related discrimination, including sexual misconduct, to SBMCMG.

Stony Brook Meeting House Lane Medical Practice, PC

Meeting House Lane Medical Practice, PC (Meeting House Lane) is a professional corporation affiliated with Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, which provides medical services to the broader community.  Meeting House Lane’s medical services are provided both at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital and at physician practice locations within the Stony Brook Southampton Hospital’s service area.   

Meeting House Lane Medical Practice, PC is the employer for employees at Meeting House Lane locations.  SBMCMG is responsible for all aspects of employment, including human resource services, hiring, promotion, discipline, terminations, and the day-to-day direction and supervision of work.  Therefore, employees at Meeting House Lane locations should report issues of employment-related discrimination, including sexual misconduct, to Meeting House Lane Medical Practice, PC.

ASA (Auxiliary Services Association) 

The Auxiliary Services Association of Stony Brook University provides many services that contribute to the quality of campus life in a flexible, efficient, and responsive manner to support the mission of the Stony Brook campus.  The services include SBU Eats (Main Campus Dining), Hospital Dining, Meal Plans, Wolfie Wallet, Books & Apparel, Student Health Insurance, and Locker Rentals & Renewals.  

ASA is the employer for these employees.  ASA is responsible for all aspects of employment, including human resource services, hiring, promotions, disciplines, terminations, the day-to-day direction and supervision of work, as well as labor relations and collective bargaining.  Therefore, ASA employees should report issues of employment-related discrimination, including sexual misconduct, to ASA.
