Gift Shop Supervisor (SBUMC)

The Gift Shop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to- day supervision of the gift shop retail service operations.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of two (2) years of progressive retail service management experience, including staff scheduling
  • Cash handling experience and protocols
  • Direct oversight of ordering and menu merchandising
  • Use of electronic Point of Sale (POS) system with profit and loss accountability
  • Computer literate in a variety of programs/software
  • Demonstrated creativity in retailing and merchandising
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work harmoniously with a diverse population
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in performance of duties
  • Excellent customer service skills and oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Retail Management
  • Experience in a healthcare food service and/or retail
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local codes and regulations pertaining to hospital retail service
  • Multi-unit retail service experience.
  • Experience counseling and training employes

Position Responsibilities:

  • Open and close the department according to proper procedures.
  • Responsible for work schedules and for conducting meetings with those employees under his/her direct supervision in order to maintain high standards.
  • Meet with employees to discuss and resolve any issues and changes.
  • Review supervisor logs daily for staffing concerns and work assignment sheets.
  • Maintain department areas in a clean, neat, safe and sanitary manner.
  • Enforce departmental sanitation policy and procedures.
  • Enforce timeliness of retail services according to departmental policy.
  • Identify and make recommendations to improve retail service operation
