The Undergraduate Colleges (UGC) are vibrant learning communities, offering individualized support, while connecting you with faculty, staff, and campus resources to guide you to a successful first and second year at Stony Brook University.

The UGC's are centered around themes of global issues. The UGC's are not affiliated with any majors, so students are encouraged to select a UGC that peaks their interests. Each UGC will provide you with the knowledge and transferable skills that will complement any choice of major/career aspiration.

The mission of the Undergraduate Colleges is to prepare first and second year students for their college journey by providing holistic support. Through first-year seminars, individualized advising, and co-curricular programming, we seek to:

• Encourage habits of success to help students persist through college and far beyond;
• Engage students in experiences that promote a sense of belonging; and
• Enrich the overall college experience.
